Internship

I'm doing an internship this week in a well-known German publishing house for several weekly, bi-weekly and monthly magazines. Besides having the possibility to get an insight in the work in such a big company and learning about different programs for editorial and layout, I can use a mac here and work with PS CS5, which is awesome. I think I'll never be able to work without a graphic tablet again after this. Here are some photos I have edited this week:

1.) Nathalie with awesome glasses on
2.) Toronto TTC streetcar
3.) Christmas in Cologne
4.) self-explanatory, right? haha

I don't like saying those two words.

After my trip to Québec City and the east coast which was awesome (pictures will follow!) I'm now at my friend's place in Toronto to take my flight back to Germany very soon. It's been a long journey, the last couple of months, and I actually fell in love with Montréal and would never have wanted to leave if there were no obligations I have to fulfill in Germany that I can't manage from there.

Considering the fact that I already miss Montréal like I had to get over a sad breakup tells me though that this was not a final good bye. ♥

Montréal, je t'aime

Spending a day walking through the city and Parc Mont-Royal with a beautiful sunset.

Because I like fall and analogue photos

Shooting analogue is getting so expensive for me because of the costs for developing (plus not owning a darkroom or negative scanner here) but I managed to get some money together and here we have some results from my last film roll. There is another one waiting from August (time is passing by so fast!).

l'automne montréalais

I guess I couldn't have chosen a better time to come to Montréal than fall. The city is so beautiful with the changing colour and the familiar smell that tells that winter is not too far anymore.

Everything is going well here. My work is kind of taking most of my time during the week but therefor I have the weekends for my own which is so nice and not necessarily common here. Can't wait for the coming weekend though!

Some pictures I've found from last year and wanted to share with you. The pictures were taken basically everywhere I've been last year. Germany, Austria, Canada, Finland...

The Art Of 'The Suburbs'

I went to see the exhibition The Art Of 'The Suburbs' by the Arcade Fire which is going on during Pop Montréal. It's great when you have the opportunity to see behind the set and understand a bit what was going on in an artist's mind while producing their work.

By the way, my friend Justin from New Zealand has a new photo homepage I'd like to show you. It's called Interhemisphere and shows the places he and his girlfriend Tali travel to around the world. I love the pictures he took from Fukuoka. It's a great city in South Japan where I'd love to go to again.

Montreal and the beginning of fall

My friend Nathalie took that picture of me. There's not a lot of pictures of me on here so I thought I should post one again.

I'm enjoying Montréal a lot. Finally I got a job which is better paid and has consistant hours. I think the last weeks were a big step for me and all of a sudden it feels like everything makes sense. You know what I mean?

It got pretty cold here (I mean, basically it's fall now) and biking is impossible without a pullover. But I'm enjoying the colder temperature to be honest.
By the way I love Montréal's architecture in terms of residential buildings. The staircases are so impressive and you find them at most buildings.

Bonjour!

Je suis arrivé! I fell in love with this town so so so much!
I managed to get my bike to Montréal too, so I'm pretty free and can discover the area better. I love my neighbourhood already, most part of the population is francophone and I hope I can improve my French here.
The first days were already so exciting because of the Québec Elections and the students movement that's happening here.

The last picture is the view on Lake Ontario from the train. It's so beautiful to take the train as you see way more of the country than on the highway.
