Oh Toronto

Today is the "anniversary" so I felt like I should post some photos from last summer. Took a while to get the negatives.

I miss Toronto and my friends there. I want to eat panzerotti in Little Italy and ice cream from The Big Chill. Then I'd take the streetcar all the way down on College Street receiving a nice spring breeze through the open window and just enjoying the view. And later at night I'd get drunk on the patio.

Internship

I'm doing an internship this week in a well-known German publishing house for several weekly, bi-weekly and monthly magazines. Besides having the possibility to get an insight in the work in such a big company and learning about different programs for editorial and layout, I can use a mac here and work with PS CS5, which is awesome. I think I'll never be able to work without a graphic tablet again after this. Here are some photos I have edited this week:

1.) Nathalie with awesome glasses on
2.) Toronto TTC streetcar
3.) Christmas in Cologne
4.) self-explanatory, right? haha

Alors, on y va!

Moving is probably the most positive stress you can have. Now I'm sitting between all the things I'm going to take with me and relaxing a bit before I'm taking the train tomorrow morning to Montreal.

Yes, I'm moving to Montréal, Québec! I will miss Toronto a lot but I'm also very excited because I feel like there is still so much I have to see in this country and because I can practice my French in la Belle Province... with a slight accent québécois ;)

But I won't leave Toronto without having posted another few pictures from the great time I had here:

Everybody seems to get sad that summer is slowly ending. Toronto's summer was really great (not only because of constant 30°+) but now I'm looking forward to fall which I find the best change of season with all trees changing their colors and then finally losing their leaves. You can start wearing comfy cardigans and pullovers and finally I don't need to run around in shorts all the time.

The pictures were taken with my analogue Nikon FG again. I love this camera!

"I Got Nothing But Time So The Future Is Mine"

I wanted to share some of the pictures from my last developed film roll with you!
They were all taken in July with my Nikon FG :)

It's been over 3 and a half months now that I came to Toronto and so much has happened since that.
Now I'm enjoying my Toronto life to the fullest and the best is that Anne is coming here in 10 days.
I'm so excited!

Yonge Street

On the first picture you can see Yonge Street, the longest street in the world starting in downtown Toronto and ending somewhere in Northern Ontario. I wish I could go on a roadtrip on Yonge Street and see how the street's picture is changing all the way up north!
Picture two is just a blurry selfportrait.

"I left the world I was running"

Crystal Fighters @ Wrongbar, Toronto, May 26th.

That was my second time seeing them. They are such a great live act with passion and ambition for their music!
If they ever come to your town, check these guys from London out! Their shows are a blast!

Time For a Haircut

A boy getting his hair cut near Kensington Market.
Kensington Market is one of my favourite Toronto areas. Right next to it you find Little Italy where I'm moving to next month! Yeah :)

I actually went to a workshop at the end of April at the Toronto Lomography Store where you could learn how to develop your own black and white film with all the chemicals and stuff. We took a walk outside through a small and interesting street south of Queen and through Bellwoods Park to take pictures and went back to develop them then. That was finally an opportunity to shoot with my Nikon FG for the first time here.
I met Jenny from Australia there, thank you for sharing and helping out! :) The results are not perfect in its quality but I think pretty good for the first time!

La septième semaine

(Pictures from a rainy night earlier this month)

Sorry for my absence but my Toronto life has been busy lately.

One of the reasons was this month's Contact Photography Festival which showed me that there are many opportunities for me to reach a larger audience in Toronto for my work.
On the one side I want to keep this blog up but I also know that I need to extend my connections in the field and look for more opportunities to present my work. I hope I get the chance to exhibit my work in Toronto soon.
Of course I will keep this blog up for now but who knows, maybe I will create my own website!
